Examination

124 Girls Will Sit For This Year’s National Exams While Pregnant in Kajiado County.

Starting today, 124 female students from Kajiado County will sit for this year's national exams while expecting in an effort to ensure that every student takes the tests.

According to statistics given by the Kajiado Acting County Commissioner Harun Kamau, 10 expectant girls would appear for the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) exams, 28 girls for the KCPE exams, and 86 girls for the KCSE exams.

It's terrible that these girls will have to take their exams while expecting. We are hopeful that despite some of them being very pregnant, they will be able to take their tests. We'll make sure they're being watched, and we'll help any women who could give birth while getting their exams," stated the county commissioner.

The majority of families have now moved to nearby counties in search of pasture for their cattle, so there may really be a lot more incoming students than you might think.

Most women are thought to have had early, unwanted pregnancies as a result of early marriage and some of the community's backward practices, like Female Gentle Mutilation (FGM). Some of them were already married to their preferred suitors.
