The competence based curriculum has been well embarrassed by Kimakiny primary school students in Elgeyo Merakwet as they decided to bake a mad cake for their teacher. Shiokwei Barsulai who is identified as their teacher was moved to tears on realizing how creative her students are.

Barsulai who is also a child right champion was thrilled as pupils also presented to her sugarcane, charcoal and Traditional vegetables as gifts on her birthday.

In a video she presented on her Facebook page she said, "On your birthday have you ever been gifted sugarcane, charcoal traditional vegetables and candy? Am really humbled". She insisted that her pupil applied competency based curriculum which is the new education system in Kenya.

This new system requires one to use available materials and thus her students were creative as a result of it. So she appealing to Kenyans to embrace it fully since it is sharpening most student's thinking capacity. Thus it enables one to get self-employment that can sustain him or her in life.
