Education cabinet secretary George Magoha has sent a stun warning to all teachers and ministry of education workers found engaging in politics.
Speaking in Kisii county on Friday, Magoha cautioned teachers against disrupting learning by engaging in open political discussions or attending political events at the expense of their duties.
According to him, teachers are not supposed to openly announce their political affiliations,or whom they will be voting for, nor also engage in active political campaigns.
The warning by Magoha comes at the backdrop of a circular urging all teachers in the country to stop engaging in politics or risk losing their jobs.
The letter from the employer TSC came after a directive by the Ethics and anti corruption commission urging the employer to request all teachers to keep off politics.
Currently, the country is experiencing some high political temperatures as politicians try to hunt down votes ahead of the highly anticipated August 9th polls.
