Parents and students were hit by the government directive to close all schools and suspend physical learning including higher institutions on 26th March. This was led by increase in Covid-19 infections where the government was forced to pose some containment measures to curb spread of Corona pandemic. Some of the containment measures are curfew and lockdown of five red zoned counties namely Nakuru, Kiambu, Nairobi, Kajiado and Machakos counties.
However, the Ministry of Education had announced that schools shall resume for term three on 10th May. The resumption has been caught by many challenges like the presence of lockdown which will may hinder many students from resuming to their respective schools. Movement in and out of these locked counties is prohibited and this may affect resumption.
The message from the spokesperson of the government provided a clue that resumption of school calendar is as scheduled despite the partial lockdown in the red zoned counties.
