The Higher Education Loans Board is about to open their portal to allow applications from students who just completed their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) and the continuing students at the tertiary levels.
The board provides an opportunity to the under privileged in the society to easily access loans to finance their tuition fees and upkeep money. The loan awarded to applicants is from a range of 40,000-60,000 Kenyan Shillings annually.
Students who just completed their KCSE will have to wait for placement by KUCCPS before they can proceed with applying for the HELB loan. To avoid last minutes delays, those willing to apply should find 2 suitable guarantors, apply for a Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) pin, have a valid bank account and and full details of their parents.
Meanwhile, the portal will be open anytime from mid June for the second subsequent application. Applicants need to log in into the portal and resubmit an application even if you had applied before.
