Moi University Lecturers and Co-workers Go on Strike

Learning Paralyzed at Moi University on Monday October 25, Eldoret as Lecturers and co-workers went on strike over unpaid salary.

One of the unionist lamented to the media that the teaching staff had not been paid for the last three months while the school's farm workers were yet to receive their 13 months salary.

"We are here today because we want to get justice. As it is, the donkey is tired. Enough is enough," one of the unionist stated.

The tutors demanded University Vice Chancellor Isaac Kosgey's audience, saying that he ought to explain why they had not been paid. They have also demanded the ouster of the University's leadership.

The lecturers called on the government to listen to their plight, failure to which they would not go back to class. Police officers had to be deployed to contain the situation.

This was not the first time the dons at the Moi University are up in arms over delayed and unpaid salaries. They downed their tools on February 2021, demanding 2020 salary arrears before signing a new contract.
