Thousands of Teachers Likely to Face Undisclosed Disciplinary Action After Deadline of Vaccination

Thousands of teachers in are likely to face different disciplinary action after failure to get vaccinated by the end of the day on Monday 23rd of August.

The Teachers Service Commission had announced that all teachers should have been vaccinated by most of them were shocked to discover that the doses had run out in most health facilities.

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) had given teachers from public and private schools seven days to receive the full dose of the vaccine or face undisclosed disciplinary action.

A large number of teachers said they had been visiting various hospitals for a week but could not get vaccinated because of long queues and the lack of such doses at some health facilities.

The Minister of Health in Tharaka Nithi County, Dr Gichuyia Nthuraku, said more than 2,000 people, mostly teachers and public servants, received the vaccine last week and completed their doses.

However, he said they expect to receive more doses by Wednesday this week.The Ministry of Health received several vaccinations on Sunday and Monday morning.

The Cabinet Secretary in charge of the Ministry of Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has since disclosed that only a half of all registered teachers in the country have been vaccinated against the novel Corona virus infections.
