
DP William Ruto led the Kenya Kwanza Education forum yesterday at Catholic University, Nairobi county in company of the ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi and his Ford Kenya counterpart Moses Wetangula. The DP made several promises to undergraduate students and graduate students.
Dr. Ruto promised a paid internship programme for graduate students if elected the fifth president. The UDA boss also promised that his government will increase the research funds for universities from the current 0.8% to 2%. He has also the dream of expanding the number if Technical Universities.
The Kenya Kwanza flag bearer also said that he would establish the National Open University to boost access and reduce the cost if university education besides introducing a paid internship programme for graduates. He said that under his government, he will double the current HELB finding where currently a student gets a minimum of Ksh.37,000 per annum. There would be more joy for the students under his government as he would make sure that the HELB loans are interest free.
