Bomet Senator Christopher Andrew Lagat is one of the most educated Senators in the country today.
Before joining politics, Dr Lagat had made a name for himself in the world of academics having risen from a primary school teacher to a senior university lecturer.
His academic journey has been a long one. But with determination, he managed to rise to the highest level on the academic circles.
Before switching to politics in 2017, Dr Lagat was a lecturer at Moi University's School of Human Resource Development.
He had also undertaken various academic duties at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology where he supervised PhD and Masters degree students.
At one point, Dr Lagat served as external examiner at the Kisii University.
At administrative level, Dr Lagat once served as Acting Head of Communication Department at Moi University and Coordinator of the institution's Kericho Campus.
During his many years in the academic circles, Dr Lagat once lectured at the University of Kabianga and served as senior lecturer at the Kericho Teachers Training College.
A former pastor, Dr Lagat once served as headteacher at Siwot Secondary School in Bomet County and Headteacher at Siwot Primary School.
A teacher by profession, Dr Lagat attended Kigari Teachers Training College and graduated with a distinction.
He would later join Daystar University where he graduated with a Bachelors degree in Theology.
The future Senator would later attend the University of University and graduated with a Bachelor of Education degree.
After the University of Nairobi, he joined Moi University where he graduated with a postgraduate diploma in Human Resource Management.
Then a Masters degree in Curriculum Development from Moi University would follow before embarking on a final journey where he graduated with a Doctor of Philosophy from the same institution.
In Parliament, Dr Lagat is one of the most outspoken senators and is a key defender of Deputy President William Ruto.
