Neither Alliance Nor Maranda, Meet The Only High School in Kenya Where Learners Fly Aeroplanes

Mang'u High School is one of the national schools in Kenya established in 1925. The institution is located in Kiambu County along the Nairobi-Thika Highway. It was founded by the Roman Catholic Church which has then, remained their sponsor. It is widely known to have produced some of the prominent people in the country including one president and many vice presidents.

Among all the existing national secondary schools in Kenya, Mang'u National High School is the only secondary school in Kenya that owns an aircraft used for learning purposes. Therefore, some students within this institution do have a chance to fly the aeroplane as part of their practicals during the aviation classes.

Mang'u National school owns the Beechcraft Qeen Air 5Y-MHS twin engined light aircraft. It is the only high school in the country that offers Aviation Technology as an examination subject. The Aviation project was started in the year 1961 by Michael Stimac. During that year, Michael Stimac introduced the Electronics Club and Air Program in the school. The main aim of the program was to equip the learners with technical skills such as propulsion, thermodynamics and meteorology.
