The news reaching our desk is that over twenty candidates from Meru central have not sat for their national exams. The major reasons being highlighted are lack of school fees and early teenage pregnancies where some of them were forced out of schools.
Parents have accused the principals of mistreating their children due to teenage pregnancies where some of them have already given birth and are already to do their papers. The children upon arrival at schools were turned away as the heads claimed that they cannot allow failures to sit for their exams in their schools. This has opened a new conversation as parents claim that the four years of their children were taken to drain.
A lady who gave birth in August narrates how she was denied access to sit for her papers with claims that she was not reading and hence would fail. This is a move that is not acceptable by law and we wish that the relevant authorities are going to ensure those responsible are brought to book.
