More Burden To Secondary School Teachers As TSC Directs Them To Teach More Subjects

Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is the only commission in Kenya that is mandated to recruit, promote and remunerate teachers according to TSC guidelines and regulations.

The Commission which is currently under the leadership of Dr. Nancy Macharia has been working round the clock to ensure that teachers work in better and conducive environments.

With the implementation of Competence Based Curriculum (CBC), Secondary School teachers will have more work compared to what they have been delivering under the 8:4:4 curriculum.

According to the latest reports, secondary school teachers will now be required to teach three subjects. Apart from teachers of English, teachers of other subjects have been teaching two subjects.

Sources have it that Information Communication Technology (ICT) course will be introduced as an added skill.

All teachers are therefore advised to be Competence Based compliant for better delivery of their services. With the introduction of Teacher Program Development (TPD) modules all teachers will be up to date with CBC.
