'It is Their Second Home' Nanyuki High School Principal Reveals Why Learners Prefer The Institution

Nanyuki High School was named as the most preferred school of choice by form ones during their selection. According to ministry of education reports, the school with capacity of 380 form ones attracted over 150,000 students who wanted to join the school.

While speaking during an interview with the Star, Nanyuki High principal Oliver Minishi said that the school is a second home for atleast 1350 students. He went ahead to describe the school as home of sweet honey attracting bees.[Photo Courtesy] Brian Shilomba from Kakamega abandoned at Nanyuki High School by his father due to lack of school fees to join form one.

The idea of the school is just to sacrifice, passion to serve and good things are like honey because it's sweet according to Mr Minishi. The principal who is also a teacher of maths and physics says that the idea is to make learning be controlled by students and not the teachers.

Mr Minishi is the only teacher in his family and he deals with students strategically to make the school environment feel like their home. The general atmosphere at the school is relatively friendly and bullies are not entertained since they are chased away.

Mr Minishi can't sleep in his house knowing that there is a problem at the school. This however makes the people in his family feel neglected. He has assured students that at the time that they will be leaving form 4, they will be better than they joined.[Photo Courtesy]
