New Changes Made in CBC, to Affect Both Learners & Teachers

Plans are underway to incorporate the Child Online Protection course into the current Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) as announced by the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) on Thursday, September 30.

During its launch, CA acting Director-General, Mercy Wanjua stated that they were working closely with education stakeholders to make online space safe for all learners.

“The authority is also partnering with the Ministry of Education and other stakeholders with a focus on reviewing the schools' safety manuals in order to incorporate aspects of child online protection,” the director revealed.

Wanjua added that they are aiming at equipping every learner with online protection skills. She further stated that they were working closely to first engage teacher's employers with the skills before they introduce them in class.

Ministry of Information Communication and Technology Cabinet Secretary, Joe Mucheru, also stated that the initiative would also apply to leaners even when they are in holiday.
