Education is a basic requirement across the world that is serving as the main key to success. As much as you can acquire wealth without passing through a given system of Education, you still need some levels of reasoning to safeguard your already acquired properties.
When the idea of Formal education was brought to East Africa by the Whites, a number of Africans strive to acquire it. However, many could not pursue it up to higher levels. Meanwhile, few individuals like David Wasawo managed to lift the flag higher by becoming the first East African to earn a Degree.
The Education record breaker, David Wasawo was born on May 17, 1923 in Gem, Siaya County, Kenya. He joined Maseno school when he was 14 years old. This was in 1937. Later, he attended Alliance high school from 1942 to 1943.
Wasawo excelled in his Secondary examinations and was called to Makerere University in Uganda to pursued his career in biology. Because of his commitments and hard work, the great academician did well and acquired a full sponsorship by the principle of Makerere to attend Oxford University in England.
In 1951, Wasawo received his first degree of Master in Zoology. He become the first East African to be awarded a degree in science. Some that was very rare during those days. It's from this perspective that he's viewed as the most adored Luo academic legend.
As much as people can read and register different academic records, there is no African that will break Wasawo's record. Absolutely none. Long live the Luo academic legend!
