University parents will have to dig deeper into their pockets after CS Magoha proposed an increase in university fees.
The outgoing cabinet secretary for education, has maintained that Kenyans are not impoverished and can afford to pay more than Ksh100,000 for university tuition.
The CS said that today during a graduation ceremony at Chuka University stating that a review of the current tuition fees given to colleges was required.
He asserted that one of the major elements to the financial limitations in tertiary schools was the meager amount.
The stern CS claimed that although vice chancellors were aware of the budget imbalance, they were reluctant to discuss it with students and parents since the matter had historically been politicized.
But the CS has instructed universities to use academic research money to increase their source of income and lessen their reliance on the national government.
Do you agree with Magoha that University fees should be increased up to Ksh100,000?
