It's a norm in Kenya that after every 5 years, setbooks in Kenyan high schools and diploma colleges change. The current form threes who are set to sit for their examination early next year are currently taking the following setbooks:
I. Blossoms of the savannah - compulsory novel
II. A Doll's House - compulsory drama
III. The pearl - an optional set text
IV. The Inheritance - an optional text(play)
V. Memories we lost and other short stories - an anthology of African short stories.
In kiswahili, Tumbo lisiloshiba, chozi La heri and kigogo are the outgoing setbooks.
We are expecting a new crop of setbooks that are set to be done by the incoming form 2s.
1. Fathers of nations by Paul B Vitta is set to replace blossoms of the savannahs.
2. Parliament of owls is set to replace The Pearl.
3. A silence song and other stories is set to replace the anthology Memories we lost and other stories.
1.Cheche za moto is set to replace chozi la heri.
2. Mapambazuko ya machweo is set to replace tumbo lisiloshiba.
These texts will replace those introduced in 2018 and are meant to last for the next five years.
