Ministry of Education has ordered all school heads in boarding schools to be spending their nights in schools.

According to the Ministry of Education, the decision is meant to stop the arson cases witnessed in many schools in Kenya.

In a circular issued yesterday by the Dr. Richard Belio Kipsang who is the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Education Science and Technology, indicates that, the new directive is aimed at ensuring teachers keep a close watch on what the students are doing during the night.

This comes after more than 20 schools in Kenya have been burnt down buy learners in boarding schools.

The ministry has also directed County directors to hold meetings with all education stakeholders in the counties on the level of discipline in their respective counties.

"The main aim of this measures is to ensure we keep a close watch on what is happening in schools," Dr kipsang said.

The ministry has also indicated that, the school should improve on the securities in dormitories and look for very innovative way of stopping burning of schools. It is also directing schools to ensure they put up mechanisms of giving guidance and counselling to learners who are having psychosocial problems.

Education cabinet secretary had earlier given tough measures to any student who will be found burning a school. The CS said that, any student who will be found will face the full is force of the law.

Many education stakeholders have been associating school burning with learners abusing drugs which makes them to lose their senses.

Do you think burning of school will reduce if school heads are always in schools day and night?
