Members of County Assembly of Nakuru county have given different views concerning the issue.Phillip Wanjohi is the MCA of lare ward in Njoro subcounty. He said that degree shouldn't be much emphasized over leadership skills.During a communication to Kameme FM radio presenter, he noted that Kenya has once been led by potential leaders despite low academic qualifications. He said that leadership is inborn and that we should not rate the competence of a leader by his or her academic qualifications.

The Subukia ward representative known as Mary Wanjiru said that educational requirements are constitutional. However, she said that only an academic elite with leadership skills would serve the nation properly.Mary related leadership to the Biblical Solomon. She said that it is possible to have a good leader without a degree. The issue should be examined critically to avoid future inconveniences due to poor leadership.
