Opinion; Schools Should Reopen On September

The cabinet secretary professor George Magoha has said that, the reopening process is on crossroads as the decision of whether schools will reopen as scheduled or not, is still underway. The president suspended all physical learning in all learning institutions due to increased number of covid 19 cases.

The education ministry is working hand in hand with the health ministry to putting measures in place on how to contain the problem. Following reports from the health ministry, almost 50% of teachers have been vaccinated against corona virus therefore, the state can't allow the education ministry to open schools.

In schools, teachers and school workers are the first transmitters of corona virus because of their age. Therefore, the education ministry is looking forward to vaccinating all teachers before reopening.

As per the current situation, the academic calendar may change for the third term to start on September so that, we can embark on the normal calendar we used to follow.
