Academically, Sr. Prof. Agnes Lucy Lando is a top-grade scholar of Communications and Media Studies. She obtained her undergraduate and Master’s degrees from Daystar University, where she studied Audiovisual Productions and Human and Intercultural Communication, respectively. She later went on to pursue a PhD in Social Communication from The Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, Italia. She is the only Catholic nun in Kenya with a PhD in Communications and Media Studies, a remarkable achievement that showcases her dedication to the field.
In addition to her academic achievements, Sr. Prof. Agnes Lucy Lando has an expansive wealth of experience in academia. She currently serves as the Director of Research and Graduate Studies at Daystar University and is an Associate Professor of Communication and Media Studies. She is also the Chair of the Daystar University Ethics Review Board. Her expertise in the field has earned her appointments as an External Examiner in many universities in Africa. She is also a Member of Council at Tangaza University College and Uzima University of Health and Social Sciences.
Apart from her academic pursuits, Sr. Prof. Agnes Lucy Lando is also a consistent writer who has been published widely in various journals. Her research focuses on various areas of Communications and Media Studies, including intercultural communication, media ethics, and development communication. She co-founded the Master Communicators Welfare Association (MCWA) in 2013, an association that raises funds for financially challenged but academically able MA Communications students.
Sr. Prof. Agnes Lucy Lando's leadership roles and achievements have not gone unnoticed. She has received numerous awards and recognitions for her work in the field of Communications and Media Studies. In 2018, she received the Outstanding Researcher of the Year Award at Daystar University. She was also awarded the Distinguished Scholarly Publication Award by the International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR) in 2020.
