Ruto’s Govt Makes Another Change in Schools Starting January Dealing a Blow to Parents

In a move that has caught families unaware, government yesterday slapped a ban on registration of new boarding schools for Grade One to Grade Nine. The government has stopped registering boarding schools for junior Secondary. This is a major change that was announced by the government stating that all leaners from Grades 1 up to Grade 9 will be attending day schools starting from next year.

The announcement was made by Basic Education PS Belio Kipsang who represented President Ruto in the official opening ceremony of 18th Kenya Primary School Heads Association annual general meeting and conference.

According to Kipsang, parents will have the primary responsibility as first educators to walk with their kids and make sure that they acquire the right values. This is however a shocker to parents who have always relied on boarding schools. The parents have now been tasked with the responsibility of being the first educators and stop outsourcing parenting to teachers.

"We cannot outsource our responsibility as parents, we only co-parent with teachers. Going forward, day schooling will be the direction, that's the only way we shall be able to engage with our children." Belio Kipsang stated.
