HELB is an independent body that gives education loans for university and college students in the country. It gives Education scholarships to needy students who are not in a position to fund their education.

The move by President Ruto in removing HELB and substituting it with the National Skills and Funding Council (NSFC) has caught attention of different high profile politicians who opposed the President's motion.

The Embakasi East Constituency Member of Parliament Honorable Babu Owino, Hon. Opiyo Wandayi and the the Kileleshwa ward MCA Robert Alai are some of the powerful leaders who have opposed scrapping of the HELB.

According to MP Babu Owino, president Ruto should stop the issue of scrapping away HELB since it is the only way that majority of poor university comrades can use to access education.

Many social media users have also critized the move to replace HELB with NSFC. The screenshots below shows how different people online have reacted to scrapping away of Higher Education Laon Board (HELB) by President Ruto.
