Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology get into bad books after a video trends online of their students spending night in the Migori cold. It's a rainy season right now and the temperatures are very low especially at night. It's risky to be outside at night because of the mosquitoes and also because of the cold.
The students of JKUAT who were attending Kenya University Sports Association Games in Migori County were unable to secure hospitable accommodation due to a lack of finances from their University. It's sad that such a big University have got poor management at this era. JKUAT is a well known University across the country and it has done great things in nurturing talents of great athletes in the country. Such incidences where the University students are not well financed may lead to demoralization and this way, we may lose great men and women who can put Kenya on a good spotlight.
Talent is usually well celebrated in the country and it has put Kenya on the map. In person engaging in sports needs proper rest. Sleep is very important and if great people with good talents are neglected, they end up performing poorly. Someone who has spend his entire night in the cold and didn't even catch some sleep is not really expected to do well in his sporting.
In the video seen online, some students could be seen trying to find space in their school bus, while others were just outside. We really hope JKUAT takes the matters of their Students seriously and makes sure they are well financed. These men and women they are neglecting now might become great people of Kenya In la few years to come and therefore they should be taken care of.
