A senior teacher in one of the primary schools in Othaya sub county, Nyeri County was burnt beyond recognition. The Kagoya Primary School teacher in Kagere area was found burnt dead by the firemen from Nyeri county After attending a distress call.
On Monday morning at around 2 A.M, the fire marshals received a distress call for a burning house, which they responded to. After putting off the fire they found lifeless body of Mr. Charles Kiruga lying near the door.
Kiruga was alone in the ill fated house during the incident. From the villagers it believed Mr. Kiruga had send away his wife and children due to family disagreement. Charity Njeri, wife to the deceased said that with her kids they moved out to avoid the deceased who had turned violent after drinking.
The incident night, Njeri, Kiruga's wife said that Charles could be heard going round their compound shouting in range before he locked himself up. He was even heard threatening to kill everyone in the homestead including his parents by torching their houses while asleep.
Charles Gikonyo, father to the deceased confirmed that Kiruga was all time drunk and he even at one time took him to rehab for treatment but nothing changed.
The area Senior Assistant Chief David Wangara, he even admitted that Charles had become frequent drinker and turning violent. He even warned him to stop domestic violence.
"I have known Charles for a long time, he has been struggling with alcohol, and i regularly warned him of domestic violence".
His body is lying in Nyeri County Teaching And Referral Hospital Mortuary awaiting for post mortem.
