Sigh of Relief as Kakamega High School Parents Told Not to Pay 9,000 Shillings

A few weeks ago, Kakamega High School parents were woken up to the horror that a Dormitory at the institution that houses about 560 students had burnt to the ground.

The fire had been started by an unknown source as it razed down the Dormitory where the students slept and efforts by the Kakamega County Fire Department to put it out proved futile.

The parents were later on ordered to pay 9,800 shillings per student to cover the costs that amounted to 21 million shillings.

The parents took the school to court and now they've received a reprieve as they won't have to pay the 9,800 shillings according to Honourable Justice W.M Musyoka.

The decision made by the Board of the school has been put on hold until the matter is properly heard by the court.

The matter is scheduled to be heard by the court on the 30th of November when a ruling will be made on how to proceed.

Parents had also been ordered by the institution to clear all fee arrears before their children could be allowed back in the National School.
