Good News to Teachers After Details Emerge on how Covid-19 Vaccination Will be Undertaken

The novel Corona virus vaccination for teachers officially kicks off on Thursday at the Teachers Service Commission headquarters in Nairobi's Upper Hill.

According to the Standard newspaper, the exercise will begin with members of the top Commission being vaccinated before issuing a statement on the exercise on Thursday.

This is great news to teachers countrywide since the vaccination starts just weeks before the national examinations kicks off in the country.

Representatives of the Kenya Primary School Heads Association (Kepsha) and the Kenya Secondary School Heads Associations will witness the exercise.

When the government announced plans to roll out vaccination, Kepsha chairman Johnson Nzioka proposed that old teachers and those with underlying conditions be given priority.

Though not all the teachers will be able to access the vaccination as it starts, mass vaccination will see a major group of teachers get vaccinated before Kenya receives the second consignment of doses.

Among those targeted in the first vaccination phase, the teachers who are above 58 years of age and those with preexisting conditions will be given the first priority.
