Schools countrywide are expected to reopen for the third term on May 10th for grade 1-3,class 5-7 and form 1-3.There has been growing concerns among education stakeholders that increasing surge of covid 19 infections might again affect education calendar.
However, going by today's report from ministry of health on the rate of covid 19 infections in the last 24 hours. There is light at the end of the tunnel.
Ministry say 369 people tested positive from 4,469 samples. The positivity rate now stand at 8.3pc.72 patients have recovered from this deadly virus,39 from home based and isolation care unit, while 33 are from various health facilities countrywide.
Concerning vaccination,chairman to primary schools heads association Mr. Nzioka and his counterparts in Secondary section had requested the ministry to vaccinate more teachers.
mr.kagwe revealed that a total of 137,581 teachers have so far been vaccinated. Teachers service Commission has urged teacher to be vaccinated before schools are reopened. The ministry revealed that the second jab will be administered as from July onwards.
Due to the shortages of AstraZeneca vaccine,the ministry has resorted to import Pfizer vaccine and Johnson and Johnson which will suppliment the available vaccine.
