After cases of Coronavirus cases in Uasin Gishu County increased Eldoret National Polytechnic has warned its tutors against teaching while their facemasks are off.
Uasin Gishu County has so far recorded over 2,000 cases of people being infected by coronavirus while over 30 people have succumbed to it.
Through an Internal memo dated 17th November 2020 and signed by the deputy principal in charge of administration Meres EK some of the trainers remove their facemask while teaching saying by doing so students also follow suit.
“It has been noted that a number of trainers remove their facemask while teaching. Kindly note that in doing so the trainees get also encouraged to remove theirs,” said the internal memo by the deputy principal in charge of administration.
“This renders the lecture room unsafe in view of covid-19. Let us be alive and fight against this pandemic,” the internal memo added.
Eldoret National polytechnic has a population of over 12,000 students where according to the Chief principal Josphat K.Sawe every student is supposed to put on facemasks all the time while in school.
“We are very cautious about the spread of coronavirus that why we are encouraging our students, staff members, and none teaching staff to ensure that they follow the directives by the Ministry of Health to prevent further spread of the virus,” the Eldoret National Polytechnic principal said.
He assured parents that everything has been put in order to ensure that students don’t contract the virus.
They said so far no student has been reported to have contracted the virus.
