For the last five years, the ministry of education has been laying a foundation for the new curriculum that is, The Competency Based Curriculum. Much resources have really been spent in ensuring that enough teachers are trained and get knowldge over the new education system. Quite a number of teachers have undertaken the trainings and have certificates. On the other hand, the ministry of education has used resources in printing books which contain the content on CBC.
In as much as the government has laid a foundation over the new education system, it has been revealed that it will undergo various challenges. Following the current CBC report, in 2023 the ministry will have a double population in Form one. This is because candidates will sit for KCPE twice in the year 2022. This therefore shows that the Ministry of education will have insufficient teachers to handle teachers. The government is advised to plan and recruit enough teachers who will handle learners in juniour secondary.
