Sigalam School Closed Indefinitely; Ofafa Jericho Closed For Three Days After Fire Razing Down Dorms

Sigalame High School in Funyula, Busia County, has been closed indefinitely after a fire razed one of the dormitories on Monday night.This was the fourth fire incident in the school since it was reopened this term.Samia sub-county Director of Education Dominic Opee said the students will remain home until investigations into the cause of the fire are concluded.The learners early Tuesday morning caused a fracas when they chased away the school guards, injuring one of them in the process.Police officers have however since restored order in the institution.

Ofafa Jericho High School in Nairobi also has been closed for three days following a fire incident that left a number of students injured.Form Fours will return to the school on Friday, while students in Form One, Form Two and Form Three will return back on Monday.Fire investigators and police officers are presently in the school probing the cause of the fire that started at around 8pm on Monday night and razed down a dormitory.At least 40 students are said to have been admitted to Metropolitan Hospital in Buruburu due to carbon poisoning following the fire incident.
