This may seem like a fallacy. It is the most learned geographical location in east and central Africa but how comes it appears to be among the poorest in Kenya? It seems impractical but that is the truth in this constituency. In ordinary sense, education should be the key to everything in life including wealth. This constituency is located in western parts of Kenya, Busia county.
Funyula-Samia sub-county is ranked the most learned location in the entire East and Central Africa. This small constituency has produced over 100 professors who are distributed all over the country. Some of the famous professors from this constituency include; Prof Agola Auma who is a professor of international relations, Prof Hellen Mondoh who is a professor of Mathematics, Prof Paul Were, Prof Fredrick Wanyama among others.
This sub- county is located in the lower regions of Busia County. It has four wards and its main economic activities include fishing and subsistence farming. The most amazing fact is how the regions rank among the poorest in Kenya yet it has the highest number of professors. Some of these people don't invest either do they live in their constituencies. Some of them prefer living elsewhere far away from their mother location.
