As at 2021, Kenya has more than 100 universities both public and private. Each university has it's own uniqueness and boast about different structures or where located. Central Kenya has got many universities set up.
In this article we will talk about the greenest university which is located in the Central Kenya.
Karatina University is the greenest university in Kenya. The university is located in Nyeri County Mathira, Constituency. It was founded in 2007 as Moi University Campus for Central Kenya.
In 2010, it was upgraded to be a constituent college of Moi then renamed as Karatina University College. After three years, it was declared as University of its own and renamed Karatina University.
Chancellor of the University is Prof. Japhet Kiptoo and the Vice Chancellor is Prof. Mucai Muchiri. The campus is 15km north of karatina town, Kagochi. The university is surrounded by tea and some even planted inside the school which gives the campus a green look.
It's surrounding of tea and a thick forest gives it the name Green University. Here are the photos which prove that it's indeed a green university.
