Just In: Sudden U-turn On CBC As Government Announced The Following Major Changes

Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) is one of the most progressive curriculum in the world. This is because CBC imparts learners with skills that are needed in the job market. In Kenya, it was introduced to replace 8-4-4 system of education.

The first cohort of CBC learners are expected to transition to junior secondary schools this year. According to recommendations made by Education Task Force that was formed by President William Ruto, Junior Secondary Schools will be domiciled in Primary Schools.

However details have now emerged that not all primary schools will host Junior Secondary Schools. Government has announced that that all Primary schools that will not meet the set standards that have been set will be barred from offering the JSS education for the Grade six learners who are set to transition to JSS when schools open on Monday January 23, 2022.

Reports further reveals that all primary schools with less than 45 grade six learners will have the learners transferred to other schools. Reports have also emerged that laboratories will not be built in each and every Primary school and that all primary schools sharing a compound with secondary schools will have to undertake their science classes on the laboratories owned by the secondary schools.
