Two Famous High Schools That were Started By The Missionaries During The Colonial Era

1.Maseno School.

It was started in 1906 by missionaries of the Church Missionary Society.It was started as a school for children of African Chiefs.The first administrator of the school was Rev.James Jamieson Willis.The school has been showing exemplary performance in the KCSE examination.The important alumni from this school are:

•Barack Obama Sr,who is the father of Barack Obama the 44th president of USA.

•Jaramogi Oginga Odinga who was the first Vice President of Kenya.

2.Mangu High School.



This school was established in 1925 and it is located in Kiambu county.It was started by Michael Joseph Witte who was a dutch priest.He secretly began with 4 students because the colonial government did not approve the school at that time .The school has been ranked among the top performing schools nationally.Important alumni from this school include;

•Mwai Kibaki who was the third president of Kenya.

•Prof. George Saitoti who was a former minister of internal security.
