Born January 13, 1936, Lucy Kibaki is the daughter to Reverend John Kagai of the PCEA. Aside from being a man of the cloth, Reverend Kagai was a common face in the colonial era education ordinance in the Eastern Aberdares District Education Board.

After qualifying to join college, Lucy Kibaki settled for a teaching course. She joined Kamwenja Teachers College where she taught before considering a teaching job at Kambui College in Kiambu county.
4.Dated Kibaki for 2 years
The late first lady met her significant other in 1960 after he had quit his job at Makerere University, Uganda, to try his hands in politics.
The two married after two years of dating.
