The Ministry of Education has been facing a number of challenges in implementation of its roles and responsibilities.
Despite the challenges, Education Ministry which is currently under the leadership of Professor George Magoha as the Cabinet Secretary has been working round the clock to ensure that schools are in a better position of serving learners.
With the recent cases of burning schools in public boarding secondary schools, the Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior have now come out to propose the reintroduction of corporal punishment in schools.
Speaking from Engototo Primary School, Interior cabinet secretary Dr. Fred Matiang' insisted that he does not subscribe to international unions that protects children rights even when they are on the wrong.
Magoha on the other hand joined his counterpart and emphasized that reintroduction of corporal punishment should be the only solution to help curb indiscipline cases in schools.
On abolishment of boarding schools, the CS mentioned that talks are underway to agree on relevant modalities of abolishing the schools.
