From from university where she had made a name for herself as an academic, Elgeyo Marakwet Deputy Governor Prof. Grace Cheserek has officially been thrust into the murky world of politics.
Today, Prof. Cheserek wears a special hat- that of the most educated deputy governor in the country. In fact, the Elgeyo Marakwet DG is the only person at her position to have an academic rank of a professor.
With an academic career spanning over 18 years that saw her rise from the lowest rank to that of professor, Prof. Cheserek is an expert in environmental science.
At Egerton University where she had spent much of her life as an academic, Prof. Cheserek rose to the position of a Dean.
A holder of a PhD in environmental science, the Elgeyo Marakwet Deputy Governor was Governor Wisley Rotich's surprise choice for his running mate in the run up to the August 9 general election.
Though she was a political greenhorn back then, the former National Employment Authority board chairperson successfully managed to help her boss to clinch the Elgeyo Marakwet top seat.
