The national treasury has set aside a total of 3.2 billion shillings to be disbursed to the respective accounts of university and college students. The allocation of funds was done as early as possible this time round to help reduce the inconveniences that arose in the last academic year as a result of delays before disbursement.
The delays caused alot of problems to students including spending several days and nights of hunger, being thrown out of their residential places due to failure to settle their rents on time and differing their studies as a result of lack of school fees. This early strategy is now hoped to be going to bring alot of harmony and successful learning.
While speaking to standard, Education CS George Magoha said that 3.2 billion HELB has been set aside for freshers but just 27,000 of the students in all the universities across the nation has applied yet the money is to be disbursed before 20th September 2021.
