Class eight candidates have recently completed their their KCPE examination, whose results are expected to be out in about two weeks time. This will then give room for their transition to secondary level. And they will therefore be admitted to secondary schools depending on their performance.
However, teachers should expect low number of form ones reporting to various schools. This is attributed to long holiday day prior the transition to secondary school. Hence a good number of learners may get married along the way. Also, the prolonged period at home ahead of transition to secondary level, may lead to early pregnacies among female learners. This would mean absconding admission in order to undergo gestation period and then take care of the baby.
The government should therefore step in and push the public to send their children to schools despite pregnancy. This is possible as it has ensured even those delivering sit for the exams. In so doing the one million plus pupils who did KCPE will see the transition to high school level 100 percent.
