Students Promoted Without Sitting For Exams As Schools Reopens In This Country

Schools in Uganda remained closed for the last 2 years since 2019 after covid19 break. The education Ministry in the country to prevent cross infection of the virus.

After closer which has been termed as the longest closer in the world, Uganda opened door of learning institutions for their learners. Uganda's Ministry of Education announced that schools will reopen in phases to a void crowding in the capital city Kampala.

“All learners in boarding schools in the districts of Wakiso, Mpigi, Mukono, and Kampala shall follow a staggered reporting plan with effect from Monday 10, January, 2022,” the Janet Museveni-led ministry warned in a statement issued January 3.

News released through local medias in the country, the Minister for Education Ms Janet Museveni, said all learners will be promoted to next classes automatically without sitting for Examinations.

She added added that all remedial from previous classes to be shared with learners in their classes within the first term to enable learners recoup what they missed.

"Remedial lessons shall be provided for these learners [in their new classes] during first term 2022 to help them cover critical content for the previous class,” Ms Museveni told The Weekly Observer newspaper.

The Government had warned parents with learners in boarding schools in the concerned area to only report to school on the specified date.

“No boarding Students in the concerned districts shall report for school earlier than January, 10, 2022.”

The Government has not clarified on numbers every class will hold per session following the social distancing protocols. Covid19 protocols requires people to stay at least 1.5 metres apart, cover the mouth and nose with mask, and wash hands regularly.
