In 2013, the government had an ambitious manifesto. President Uhuru Kenyatta and DP William Ruto promised among other things to give free laptops to class one pupils. The promise was not executed fully and it has become a thorny issue to William Ruto. This is because he was at the forefront in saying that every student in class one will get a laptop.
Aden Duale has revealed that today's manifesto launch will move away from fancy and ambitious promises. He has said that they will not promise to give out laptops again. He added that you cannot give an hungry pupil a laptop.
Duale's sentiments means that Ruto's manifesto might focus more on lowering the cost of living. Kenya Kwanza has already revealed the four pillars that will anchor their manifesto. They include: Agriculture, SMEs, Housing and Manufacturing. The pillars borrow a lot from President Uhuru's big 4 agenda. Ruto in different interviews has said he will seek to continue the president's big 4 agenda should he win the August general elections.
