Just In; TUM To Face A Fine Of Ksh250,000 For Blocking Student's Graduation

Technical University of Mombasa (TUM) is a public university located in the coastal city of Mombasa, Kenya Tudor, along Tom Mboya avenue. It is amongst the oldest institution of higher learning in Kenya.

It is one of the National Polytechnics recently elevated to a fully fledged University in Kenya. It was awarded its charter in 2013 by-then president Mwai Kibaki.

The University has faced a charge of Ksh250,000 cash money to a student after denying him a chance to graduate.

This was after a ruling made by High Court judge Justice Eric Ogola, following the violation of the right of Dismas Polle Mwasambu rights and further ordered the university to include the name of the above mentioned student in this year's graduation list scheduled for this year.

Dismas successfully completed a 4-year undergraduate course in Business Administration with a focus on human resource management but upon completion of his studies, the institution disqualified him on on allegation of being in possession of a forged certificate. The court argued that despite the allegations, Dismas lawfully studied and completed the course at the institution.

The student therefore will successfully graduate after his several attempt which has not been going through.
