Schools are expected to be opened on 26 July for their first term. Then the form one intake is set to start on 2 August. This has kept the parents on their toes as they look towards making it before children return to school.
In a sad scenario a top student in Machakos county, Faith Mumo, was not able to raise the fees to join form one. People had promised to give her scholarship but failed to honour their promises. The girl had scored 433 and wants to take medicine in university.
However Matungulu MP, Stephen Mule, came to her rescue. This is after the star news feed covered her sorrowful story. Mule gave the girl a cheque worth 120,000 shillings. This was to cater for all the expenses needed in form one at Kenya High school.
“Since she is one of the best performers in our constituency, we have decided to sponsor her education in full. That is starting from form one until she completes her secondary school,” Mule said.
The Member of Parliament added that the CDF have set aside 34 million to pay school fees for 75 needy students in Matungulu constituency. They paid the extra amount so as to motivate Mumo.
The money given is to cater for fees, school uniform and other personal necessities.
