Following a vehicle accident on Thursday evening, 19 pupils from Thur Gem Secondary School in Kisumu are still being treated at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital.
Dr. George Rae, CEO of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital, said 25 of them were discharged last night because they were no longer in danger.
He claims, however, that the 19 people who are still in the hospital require medical attention as a result of their injuries, with five of them being critically hurt.
After the brakes on the school bus failed, the vehicle overturned near Mamboleo on Kisumu—Kakamega route.
The pupils, along by their professors, were returning to school after participating in an educational excursion in Kakamega.
The pupils in the collision were in Forms 3 and 4. They were accompanied by four teachers.
