Nyeri Teacher Wins An International Award, Politicians Celebrate

A teacher from Nyeri County have caused an online uproar after she won an international award over her excellence in her service and hard work. This comes several years after teacher Tabichi won a world wide award by defeating other teachers from across the world in a colourful function.

The news of the latest teacher to win another award was shared by the Nyeri County Governor Hon. Mutahi Kahiga using his official Facebook timeline where he posted the names of the teacher as well as her outstanding performance that made her be recognized across the world.

"Congratulations Mwalimu Esther Mureke from Nyeri High School for winning A royal International award; The Prestigious Duke of Edinburgh International Prize. This prize was awarded to Esther, who was among 100 people worldwide for their outstanding support to youth. Her efforts were recognized for her volunteer work in prison and for encouraging the youth to embrace volunteerism. Congratulations Teacher Esther. Nyeri is proud of you," Governor Mutahi Kahiga posted on Facebook.
