Normally, school heads are the secretaries of the school committee or Board of management (BOM). They are the managers of the school funds for every money that lands in the school account for they have to sign it as received from the government or the ministry of education. There is also school fees that parents pay cash or through the bank. They are responsible for budgeting for this money too.
Due to this, school heads should ensure that the money that they receive has been used appropriately. Failure to this they can receive serious punishment from the government. Parents are also watchful when it comes to usage of the school funds.
Teachers Service Commission (TSC) in Makueni county has begun investigating this headteacher over the same. Makueni County TSC director,Mr Alex Cheruiyot has said that the audit department has been engaged to establish the embezzlement of monies in the school after parents staged protest on Monday this week. He has added that,if the school head will be found guilty shall face a stern punishments from the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
