The Kenyan teachers are up in arms.TSC has ignited debate by introducing the new tpd modules that teachers are never used to.The commission has already instructed the teachers to apply for the trainings.Kenya Education Management Institute together with Mount Kenya University have already advertised the first application.Teachers both from primary and secondary schools are expected to flock the accredited institutions to begin the trainings.
Certain key things are biting the teachers. They are set to use their own monies as fees.On top of this, they will be required to renew their contracts with TSC after every five years.A teacher who will fail the modules will have to be relieved from duty as a TSC teacher. On the other hand,TSC has just left all the teachers in suspense. The aging teachers are still confused.
As these Confusions go on,the one time Education PS Professor James Ole Kiyiapi has faulted TSC about the trainings. He has said that TSC should rethink of further specialized trainings. He has proposed that TSC should just deploy trainers to train teachers in blocks within their counties instead of few institutions that have been selected. Will TSC buy this idea?
