Butere girls is a public national boarding secondary school for girls only located along Kakamega-Bukura Butere Highway in Butere Constituency, Kakamega County, Kenya. The school has a total student population of approximately 780. Butere girls is currently headed by Mrs. Jenipher Omondi who is the principal.
The is school is among the top performing national high schools and it is an important academic powerhouse in Kenya. Butere girls is well known for shinning in both local and national examinations. It has some of the best infrastructures like libraries that makes learning and teaching activities effective.
The school is known to produce competent individuals to the society. It boasts of a high profile alumni among them being DP Ruto's wife Mrs. Rachael Ruto. In 2020 KCSE examination, the school had a total candidature of 475 and recorded an impressive mean score of 9.002 which is a B (plain). To make the matter good, Butere girls managed to take 447 students direct to the university. This translates to a percentage of 94.3% securing a chance in the university under KUCCPS.
