North Eastern has been always considered as the marginalized region in Kenya. This is due to various hardships experienced by the local communities while in their daily search for their livelihood. Among the common hardships include perennial drought and insecurity cases.
For the above reasons, learners are exposed in the hostile environment which do not provide the conducive factors for learning to take place.
The best girl in 2018 KCPE examinations was lucky one to receive the Governor's recognition. Bushra Ahmed Abubakar who scored 423 marks out of the possible 500 marks at Sunshine Academy in Garissa County was unable to hide her smile back in 2019 when she was fully sponsored by the Mandera boss Ali Roba.
The young girl's four-year school fees amounting to Sh215,000 was paid in advance directly to the school account. The girl together with her family had been finanancially stranded but they finally had a sigh of relief.
She was admitted in Pangani Girls for her Form One studies in 2019. Apart from settling her school fees, Bushra received Ksh100,000 for her school uniforms and personal effects. All these goodies were as a result of the courtesy of KTN News which highlighted her plights for being unable to raise her school fees and other shopping for her Highschool requirements.
Bushra is now a happy Form Two student who feels proud to represent her region in such a mighty and great Pangani Girls. It's everyone's best wish to a young girl as she pursues her destiny. She dreams to become a medical surgeon once she is done with her secondary education.
